De-escalation and Restraint Training
We have trainers in both Team Teach and Safer Handling who are licensed to deliver accredited courses in both across the region. Our preferred combination is Safer Handling accreditation with an extension unit of alternative holds. Each course is supported with a Restrictive Physical Intervention Systems audit and updates. Schools will also receive training and guidance around the legal aspects of RPI.
The areas covered within all course options are:
- De-Escalation including verbal prompting and help scripts
- The Conflict Spiral
- The origins of Behaviour
- Post-Incident Learning
- Behaviours that Challenge
- Personal space and Body Language
- Positive Handling Techniques and planning in advance
Safer Handling training is available as a day CPD offer at the end of each term. For schools wishing to block book for an alternative date, including twilight slots, please contact us to discuss the availability of our trainers and costings.
AET (Autism Education Trust)
Aspire holds the Hull licence for the AET. Aspire offers face-to-face CPD packages to support schools in working with students with autism.
According to the latest SEND statistics (DfE) there are over 160,000 autistic pupils in schools across England. Over 70% are in mainstream school, with the rest in specialist education, home educated or out of education altogether. In addition, Autistic pupils in England are nearly three times as likely to be suspended from school for a fixed period as pupils with no special educational needs. The need for increasing autism awareness and understanding children with autism is evident.
AET trainers run courses at the end of each term and offer a range of different packages and sessions as well as our full course option. For schools wishing to block book for an alternative date, including twilight slots, please contact us to discuss the availability of our trainers and costings.
Trauma and Attachment
Aspire has a range of trauma and attachment informed practitioners who have developed a range of short courses, underpinned by research, on Trauma and Attachment in young people. All course options provide a core introduction to understanding of trauma and attachment. The specialism of the courses include:
- The role and importance of the EAA (Emotionally Available Adult)
- Identifying attachment types and subsequent approaches and interventions
- Introduction to PACE and implementing a PACE approach in schools
- Ways to talk to teenagers and the importance of acceptance
- Senior leader support for implementing a trauma informed practice
- DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) and Pace approach to working with young people
A trauma and attachment course runs at the end of each term. For schools wishing to block book for an alternative date, including twilight slots, please contact us to discuss the availability of our trainers and costings.
